Nothing gets installed until somebody has looked at your house. Somebody comes out and looks at the roofline, talks through what you are after, and works out where the light should go. The consultation is free and it does not commit you to anything.
Why the design comes first
Every roofline is a little different, which is why one plan does not fit every home. The design should read the house, picking up the roofline and the peaks and the porch edge. On commercial work the same thinking applies to storefronts, entrances and outdoor seating.
The install itself
The crew does the whole thing. The channel is fastened along the roofline in the design, color matched to your trim so it is not the first thing a visitor sees. Power, control box and app setup are handled as part of the install, not left on your kitchen table in a box. Before the crew leaves, you get shown how to run it, so the first night is not a guessing game.
Commercial installations work the same way
For a business the steps do not change, although the scale is different. What changes is when the work happens. Install timing works around when you are open, because nobody wants scaffolding across the front door on a Friday.
Getting the most out of the first visit
Nothing is required, but the visit goes further if you have thought about a couple of things. Know which parts of the house you use in the evening. Think about whether this is mostly a holiday purchase or mostly an everyday one, because the answer changes the design. And walk the property once at night before the visit, because dark spots are obvious then and invisible at two in the afternoon.
Living with the system once it is up
Most people play with it for a week. That is part of it, and then a routine sets in. The routine is usually one warm white on a dusk schedule, with the color saved for the days that call for it.Set the schedule before you forget about it. Lighting that needs a decision every evening gets used less than lighting that turns itself on.There is very little asked of you while the crew works. The practical list is short: access to the perimeter, a clear driveway and pets indoors. Beyond that the crew works and you do not have to hover.
After the system is up
